I had been using the free version of Katalon (v9.7.2) but have now upgraded to the latest version v10.3.2 and I’m not able to run any of my automated desktop test cases. I get a pop up that says this feature requires an Enterprise license.
I also can’t use the windows recorder as well - I get the same pop up message.
In the previous free version of Katalon I had no problems creating or running basic automated desktop tests and looking on the pricing page, basic desktop testing should be supported when using the free version. Why am I now getting this pop up?
In summary, certain Desktop testing capabilities that were previously available in the free tier now require an Enterprise license. This is why you’re seeing the pop-up message when trying to run or record desktop tests in v10.3.2.
If you’d like to continue exploring Desktop testing, you can:
Use the Enterprise trial to test the new experience, or
Stay on your previous v9.7.2 version if you only need the earlier free features.
Let us know which setup you prefer, and we can share the right download or activation steps for you.
Hi Bella, thanks for getting back to me and I would prefer to use the previous version of 9.7.2. The thing is when I currently open v9.7.2 I get a message saying to download 9.7.6. When I click close the application closes.
We removed Desktop testing in 10.x with the Selenium Upgrade and WinAppDriver didn’t work with Selenium 4.x.
I was able to bring it back using a different underlying technology but to justify the spend and the increased maintenance we had to move into the Enterprise license. You can pick up an Enterprise license on the pricing page for half off if you have 3 or less users.
Yep you got it, That’s what we’re using underneath, but we had to fork it to improve performance and now we’re on the hook to maintain it as we’re packaging it with the KS binary. Hence, the increase spend.
Thank you so much for sharing, was able to download v9.7.6 and can now run my automated desktop test cases and create new ones. Back in business. Thanks
