Katalon folks,

Recording & continue recording NOT working in Katalon Studio 5.9.1

Window7, 64bit
Katalon Studio; Version: 5.9.1; Build: 2
Chrome; Version 71.0.3578.98 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Click-path #1: Recording Web NOT working.
Test steps:
Open Katalon & any test project.
Click File > New > Test Case.
Input any ‘Test Case’ name & click OK.
Click “Record Web” & input the desired URL.
Click on “Chrome (Recommended) from the browser drop-down selector.
Click on any objects that are needed for the new recording.
Result= Red outline on objects does NOT display & objects are NOT selected / captured.

Click-path #2: Record Web - Continue recording NOT working
Test steps:
Open Katalon & any test project.
Open any test case where the user wants to continue recording test steps.
Click “Record Web”.
Click “Yes, I do” for the “Do you want to continue recording test case: ‘Case name’?” question.
Click “Run all steps”.
Result= ‘Status PASSED [green]’ displays.
Click on any objects that are needed for the new recording.
Result= Red outline on objects does NOT display & objects are NOT selected / captured.

Reverting to Katalon Studio, Version: 5.8.0, Build: 1 works as expected.

Note: We use the record feature to quickly capture several objects. This allows us to edit / copy those objects we need to keep and delete those not used. This feature is a huge time saver when creating new test cases for the many different projects we work on.

I am using 5.9.1 and face no issue while recording. Try to delete all temp files, close all browsers (from task manager) download the version of the tool afresh and try again.

I did NOT mention it above but I’ve done 2 fresh installs of 5.9.1 and experience the same results.

I do have one question… Which temp files are u talking about?

Katalon folks please review my *.log files when time allows.

Update:

This seems to only happen for pre-existing projects as when I created a new ‘Sample Tips & Tricks Project’ from the ‘Sample Projects’ listing the recording works as expected. Could this be a project memory/issue for the “Record Web” feature? I changed my Katalon.ini file from -Xmx4096m to Xmx8192m to see if that might help, but no luck.
