Record (Active Browser) Didn't work

Hi All,

I just tried to record (active browser) on Chrome, and already installed the katalon recorder extension.

But on KS, the step not recorded. Is there any solution to this issue? Thanks

I use Katalon Studio 10.0.0 on Mac

Thanks for the reply.
I saw the link that you provided but as beginner it seems I can’t find a solution based on your link.

Basically, I follow the tutorial from this link: Katalon Studio: Create Automated Tests with Record and Playback

As you can see on the video after she chooses to add the extension and selects record (active browser) its directly adds the record to the record tab. This is the issue for me, it only recorded “open browser” and the rest wasn’t recorded at all.

Katalon offers 2 distinct products that are named very similar

  1. Katalon Recorder, browser plugin
  2. Record and Playback feature in Katalon Studio

Thanks for the reply.

The first one “Katalon Recorder, browser plugin” same as in the video I shared, after adding the extension/browser plugin on the video it can directly recorded the step based on the active browser. But, it didn’t work for me on that part.

”Katalon Recorder" and “Katalon Studio” ーーー these are 2 different products.

Which one do you want to use?

Please chose one.

Please do not mix these 2 products in a question.

If you mix them, your question will confuse others.

But did you check the link video I mentioned? on the video it can directly connect to the KS after installing the Katalon Recorded Extension

I checked the video. The female narator did not as me to install the “Katalon Recorded Extension” product.

To be honest, I don’t understand what you mean by the term “Katalon Recorded Extension”.

Is it equal to “Katalon Recorder”? or anything else?

Yes its on the video at 1:30 timestamp. She installed the “katalon recorded” to directly use "Record (Active Browser) on the Katalon Studio.

And my issue is I can’t do like on the video at 2:30 timestamp, where she can automatically record the step after select/action on the active browser.

I checked the Chapter 3 's video,

and yes, she talked about installing Katalon Recorder.

… Now, I am no longer interested in this issue. I would quit. I hope @vu.tran @Elly_Tran would help @Ricec21

Attached is the video:

As you can see I already installed the extension as on the video tutorial (timestamp 2:30), but as you can see after I installed it and ran the record (active browser) KS didn’t record the step that I performed (like selecting dropdown, radio button, etc).

And that is my issue, it should be record every action that I performed on the active browser, right?

I skimmed but it sounds like the Web Recorder Plus in 10.0.1 will be beneficial here. It is a lot easier to setup than KCU.

If you’re using it due to unpacked extensions being blocked you will need Katalon Studio Recording Engine

One limitation ATM - it can mess up if you have the other KS recorders installed (KCU, Katalon Recorder) so I would remove those first and then use Katalon Recorder Plus (name of feature) + Katalon Recording Engine (name of extension)
