We have released Katalon Recorder v7.1.0 which brings a couple of significant improvements and bug fixes (check them out below).

This update enhances Recorder’s performance stability as well as resolves several issues that have been reported by KR users on the forum after installing the last versions such as:

  • Difficulties interacting with Angular-based websites,
  • Login problems on some sites,
  • Script conflicts affecting the website’s layout, and
  • Interaction issue with hidden pop-ups.

My team and I have noticed some recent changes to the Katalon Studio Desktop Software and the newly updated Katalon Recorder that are causing problems for us. We are unable to use Katalon Studio’s Object Spy or Web Recorder features, which have been crucial to our process since the beginning.

We are currently using:

  • Katalon Studio: Version 9.6.0
  • Katalon Recorder: Version 7.1.0

Previously, we were able to open a new browser and capture objects through the Katalon Studio Desktop Software without the need for the Web Browser Extension. However, within the last month, this became an issue because the Katalon Recorder Extension became necessary to capture objects and when opening a new browser, it would open in incognito mode, which meant there was no Katalon Recorder Extension in the window.

To work around this, we began using the active browser and the Spy Object (active browser) option in the Web Object Spy or Web Recorder features. This worked for a while, but as of this morning, this method has become obsolete.

Currently, when attempting to capture objects, nothing appears on the Object Spy or Web Recorder Modals when using the new Katalon Recorder 7.1.0 “Capture Object” option. We understand that we can create a manual Test Object, but I wanted to bring up this regression to the Katalon Studio Web Spy and Record features.

We would appreciate any assistance in resolving this issue as soon as possible. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
