Unable to create a test case which requires spaning of the menu

I am unable to span a menu section in web aplication.
actually, I have a menu where I have to click then it span the section for other option but in this case I am unable to complete test case.
I am not able to record in my test dropdown menus used on our website. The Object in the test case reads, span_select2-selection_arrow_1
