Invalid Appium Directory

I just downloaded Katalon Studio for macOS (Monterey). The first thing I tried was to create a new test. I saw the instructions for Mac and did:

npm install -g appium

(BTW - Katalon should just include this)

Then I connected my Android device, set it up, located my APK and picked the Start button. I get an error that Appium directory is invalid??!!??

I followed YOUR instructions so naturally appium when into the ~/.nvm directory.
Where is it supposed to go? The error dialog could say that.
