Today is a rather peculiar day as it is World Emoji Day. It is not an official holiday, but rather an informal one and it was popularized by Jeremy Burge, the founder of Emojipedia, and he chose July 17th based on the way the calendar emoji is shown on iPhones.

Did you know that the (:slightly_smiling_face:) emoji actually carries a double meaning for many millenials and gen Z-ers in Vietnam? For westerners it may just simply mean a friendly smile, but here, somehow the emoji has been used to (covertly) express contempt and mockery, or passive-aggressiveness.

Now here’s a bit about me in emojis
