Advice on katalon license model

for a new project with Katalon ,the client wants to go with it.

On purchasing a license, the client wants to know the licensing model. They like to understand the licensing because it looks like we pay for a licence per developer, but also per runner if in cloud and I’d like some advice about what is best.

For now they are going to get it for a single developer. What would be the best plan.

Katalon studio enterprise is a code editor to write automatic tests - per user per machine

Katalon run time engine is mainly for cli and cicd executions - per user per machine

Both the above are different products with different cost but you can check the pricing page anytime

Apart from the above there are cloud relates products which you can explore

If your requirement is to automate and use a cicd pipeline , you should opt for

KSE + KRE license

Below would be the cost

1 KSE + 1 KRE => 2000 USD annually per user per machine
2 KSE + 2 KRE => 4749 USD annually per user per machine
3 KSE + 3 KRE => 8247 USD annually per user per machine

How about TestOps License…what if I need to schedule it..What would be the cost if I need to include TestOps

And also about the Floating license difference

You can schedule using any CICD tools like Jenkins , Azure DevOps , GitHub actions etc.

Katalon TestOps is now a core part of the Katalon Platform.

Floating license would generally mean

One license is assigned to one parallel execution session and can be shared across unlimited accounts/machines and applies to all types of execution environments.

Thanks …I have some more questions on this

  1. To schedule and run in TestOps, what license we need.
  2. Explain On Katalon Platform and features included in that
  3. To use Truetest, can it be an add-on in KSE itself
  4. The access the AI features related to testops like Flakiness Detection, Failure Analysis, Virtual Analyst, Visual Testing, API Anamoly detection what license is required.

You are mixing licenses with general concepts in automation.

I would urge you to read Katalon documentation where each and everything is described properly

Let me try to answer this @vasanthi.j. Katalon Platform includes many solutions/tools: Katalon Studio Enterprise, Katalon Runtime Engine, Katalon TestCloud, Katalon TestOps, and the newly launched TrueTest.

Each tool will have a set of features, including AI features. For example, KSE has StudioAssist, TestOps has Virtual Analyst and Visual Testing.
