Hello! ONe question for product experts,
Will the free version be reintroduced with a section that simulates the Custom keywords functionality? I understand the product distinction between versions, but it took me a long time to generate these custom keywords and to introduce them in my tests, and with the change all is lost because I have no possibility to switch to KSE.

I am a forum visitor, not a Katalon staff.
I don’t think anyone from Katalon will respond to this post from @ester.martinez. Why? In Dec 2023, there were some discussions in this forum about the removal of Custom Keywords from the Free version of Katalon Studio. For example,
Then I expected Katalon to respond to our discussion. But they did not react. It seems that they are reluctant to talk about this issue.

Not lost yet 
. You can continue and stay with Katalon Studio Free v9.0.x. The 9.0.x is the last version which provides the Custom Keyword feature free.
In the Open Source Software world, there are a few alternative E2E testing tools such as Playwright by Microsoft. I would recommend you, @ester.martinez, to look at those alternatives.
We’re bringing it back in 10.0.0.
In fact, it will be in the next beta release of 10.0.0 scheduled for next week.
We’ll post it here when it’s out.

In the post Announcing KS10.0.0 Alpha (with Selenium 4 Upgrade)! 🚀 I found a statement
Some keywords are not functioning as expected: Scroll to text, Double-tap, Drag and Drop, Pinch to Zoom in at position, Type on Image.
Do you mean you promise you will fix those bugs?
I’m talking about custom keywords, but those should be fixed too. Most of those are related to the java appium client that is being bumped in 10.0.0
I understand that Katalon Studio is dependent on the Appium Java Client project.
What would you do if they do not release a version of satisfactory quality?
In that case, I guess, KS v10.x.x.x might stay in Alpha for a long time to come. So we should not talk about custom keywords for now.
What do you mean? That Appium java client isn’t of sufficient quantity or Katalon 10.0.0?
If Katalon 10.0.0 has any known critical defects we won’t release it.
As for the problem with many of the keywords, that was a difference between uiautomator2 versions and the inbuilt appium java client version.
If you downgrade uiautomator and use a custom keyword it would work but that’s only a workaround. Going forward we’re going to keep everything in sync and this won’t happen again.
Feel free to try the current beta build - it already has the appium java client upgraded as well as Selenium 4. Not all keywords are migrated in the current build but the majority are. In the beta coming out next week custom keywords will be coming back.
