Hi everyone,
Today we are releasing the September 13, 2023 update to the Katalon Platform which bring with it a slew of new features and enhancement as below.
1. Administration
In this version, we have made a small improvement that aims to drive a better purchasing experience for our users. Specifically, there is now a Pop-up modal after clicking “Buy Now” on the pricing page.
This pop-up modal with a revamped UI will appear when you click on the “Buy Now” button on the Katalon pricing page and redirect you to the Subscription Management page.
2. Create Tests
We are excited to announce the release of Katalon Studio version 9.0.0 in open beta. This version brings quite a bit of improvements as below:
- Upgraded versions of Eclipse IDE, Java, Groovy compiler, eGit
- More browsers compatibilities (Edge 116, Chrome 116, and Firefox 116)
- Enhanced web services and security compliance
- Performance enhancements
Changes:
-
The abilities to import and export custom keywords are now only available to enterprise users.
-
Without KSE licenses, users can only create 40 test suites per project. Free users with existing projects of more than 40 test suites can still execute their test suites, but cannot create new ones.
-
Setting the default package for step definitions is now compulsory (in previous versions, it was optional).
-
When using the Katalon Docker image or executing KRE with CI/CD pipeline, e.g. Circle CI or Team City, …, and use the ‘latest’ tag for the KRE version, you will download the latest version of Studio 8.x. To use 9.x version, you just need to replace the latest tag with the version of the number that you desired, e.g. 9.0.0.beta
Migrating from version 8.x to version 9.0.0:
Please note that in-app upgrade from version 8.x to version 9.0.0 is not available due to the major changes. As a result, you will need to manually download version 9.0.0 either from Katalon TestOps or on Katalon Website.
- On Katalon Website: Download version 9.0.0
For a full list of all of the changes, improvements, and current limitations, please refer to our documentation here: Katalon Studio Release Notes: Version 9.x | Katalon Docs
3. Organize
We have revamped the Integration UI which now consolidates all integrations into a single view to offer you a more interactive experience.
4. Execute
- We have updated the latest browser version for Windows, Linux and macOS (Chrome 116, Firefox 116, Edge Chromium 116) for TestCloud environment in TestOps and Katalon Studio.
We have also fixed some bugs:
- Some of our users reported that the Schedule Test Run dialog in TestOps fails to fetch data from GitHub’s URL that prevent them from working within TestCloud. This is because TestOps internally fetches the content from this link and parses the content to get the list of Katalon Studio versions and shows them on the Schedule Test Run dialog. Unfortunately, for some users, their networks actually blocked the URL which prevented TestOps from doing so.
→ Hence, with this release, we have changed the address of release file from GitHub to this link instead.
-
- The CPU of the storage transfer service is getting high and then it consumes all resources (CPU/Memory) of EKS nodes. This is the reason why the EKS node is crashed and all services on this node are terminated as well. To reduce this situation, we’ve added the request/limit resource and HPA (Horizontal Pod Autoscaling) for all TestCloud services.
5. Analyze
- In this release we have removed the hard limit number of sending email from 100 emails/ 1 organization/ 1 day to unlimited.
As Katalon Studio version 9.0.0 is still in beta, there is bound to be a lot of bugs still lurking around waiting to be fixed. Hence, our Product team would love it if you could report any bugs you can find in the Bugs Report area.
And, we are running an Ask Katalon Anything thread from now till 2023-09-22T16:59:00Z, so feel free to hop in and ask our Product team members anything you would like to know about what’s next for Katalon Studio in particular, and the Katalon Platform in general.
