Kudos Leaderboard Shows Negative Kudos Value for User
Description
I noticed an issue on the Kudos Leaderboard where my Kudos points are displayed as a negative value (-740). Based on the Kudos system behavior, there should be no negative Kudos value, as Kudos are earned through positive actions (receiving kudos) and should not drop below zero.
This seems to be either a calculation or display issue on the leaderboard.
Steps to Reproduce
Log in to Katalon Community account
Navigate to Kudos Leaderboard
Select the month range (e.g. Nov 18 – Dec 18)
Scroll to your ranking position
Actual Result
My Kudos points are displayed as -740
Negative value is shown in the leaderboard
Expected Result
Kudos points should never be negative
Minimum value should be 0 if no kudos were earned or deducted
Leaderboard should display a valid non-negative number
Impact
Causes confusion and inconsistency in the leaderboard
Affects user trust in the Kudos calculation system
During the selected time range (Nov 18 – Dec 18), you redeemed / exchanged Kudos.
The Kudos Leaderboard calculates a net Kudos change (delta) for the selected period, which includes:
Kudos you earned during the timeframe
minus Kudos you redeemed during the same timeframe
If more Kudos are redeemed than earned within that period, the net value can appear as a negative number on the leaderboard.
Important clarification
You do not have a negative Kudos balance
No Kudos were removed beyond the redemption you made
This behavior affects only the leaderboard display for the selected date range
Why this is an issue
While the calculation itself is technically correct, the leaderboard should not display negative values, as Kudos are meant to be non-negative from a user perspective. This can understandably cause confusion about how Kudos and rankings are calculated.
Next steps
We’ve shared this with the engineering team to:
Prevent negative values from being displayed on the leaderboard
Improve clarity around how Kudos redemption impacts leaderboard rankings

thanks for the clear explanation, that makes sense now.
i understand the negative number represents the net Kudos change for the selected period, not my actual balance.
that said, I agree it can be confusing from a user perspective, since Kudos are generally expected to be non-negative. a clearer label or preventing negative values on the leaderboard would really help avoid misunderstanding.
