Can you confirm that you’re using Appium Server version 1.8.1 (or Appium Desktop 1.6.3)? You can check this by running on the command line:

appium -v

Here are some compatible version combinations of Katalon Studio and Appium. If you’re not using Katalon Studio 6.2 beta, then I don’t think Appium 1.12.1 will work for you:

Appium Server 1.8.1 and Katalon Studio 6.1.3

Appium Desktop 1.6.3 and Katalon Studio 6.1.3

Appium Server 1.8.2-beta and Katalon Studio 6.1.3

Appium Server 1.12.1 and Katalon Studio 6.2.0 beta
