We are excited to announce that Ask Katalon Anything (AKA) is now LIVE! :tada: Whether you’re exploring the Katalon platform, running into challenges, or simply looking for tips to enhance your testing workflows – We are here to answer all of your questions.

Vivian Nguyen is our Product Manager for Katalon TrueTest – the AI-powered test automation platform that captures real user interactions and generates intelligent test cases from production traffic. Her focus is on advancing TrueTest’s unique approach to autonomous testing by leveraging real user behavior data to create more meaningful and comprehensive test coverage.

Tuan Tran is a Software Engineer on the TrueTest team, contributing to building innovative solutions that bring the power of AI-driven testing to life.

Hey @anh.tvnguyen and @tuan.tran, in terms of using AI-Powered Manual to Automation, when we use AI to convert manual tests, how much control will testers actually have over the generated tests? Will they be able to edit or customize them after conversion? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this, and I’m sure the community has follow-up questions too! :grinning_face:

Great question! In TrueTest, testers maintain full control over AI-generated automation tests throughout the entire process.

Control During Conversion: TrueTest doesn’t automatically convert everything. Instead, it monitors end-user activity and generates User Journey maps and User Flows. Testers review these flows and manually select which ones they want to convert into automated test cases. This selection process ensures testers decide exactly what gets automated.

Control After Conversion: Once TrueTest generates and pushes the test cases to the repository, testers have complete flexibility to customize them:

  • In Katalon Studio: Testers can review, edit test steps, add/modify test data, and execute tests locally

  • In Katalon TestOps: Testers can schedule executions, run test suites, and analyze detailed reports

The AI handles the heavy lifting of generating test scripts from user behavior, but testers retain full editorial control to refine, enhance, or modify the tests to match their specific requirements.

This approach balances automation efficiency with tester expertise—AI accelerates test creation while testers ensure quality and relevance.
