When you say storeElementPresent do you mean this?

If so, and if I understand you correctly (it sounds like you want to check if an element is present/has an attribute), have you tried:

WebUI.verifyElementHasAttribute(yourTestObject,
    attributeName,
    1,
    FailureHandling.OPTIONAL);

?
