Hiring a QA engineer outside US, how do remote teams handle this?

We’ve found a QA engineer we’d like to bring onto our team, but they’re based in Europe, where we don’t have a local entity. So I’m not sure what the best setup is. I have explored a few options, but still haven’t made a final decision yet.

Contracting was our first option, but this is a full-time role rather than freelance work, so we may face compliance issues. We’ve also been looking at using an employer of record, specifically Globalization Partners, and right now that seems most practical, as the person would be employed locally with standard employee benefits.

Not sure if anyone here has experience with a similar setup, but we haven’t hired anyone through an employer of record before, so I’d be interested to hear from people who have actually worked with this kind of arrangement.

Has anyone here worked on a QA or development team where someone was employed through an EOR? How did it work in practice?

It’s not that difficult actually if you are really willing to hire him or her.

First option is through Employer of Record employee and there are a plethora or companies like deel.com who can take care of all legal aspects.

Next option that is way more simple is to hire him or her as an individual contractor, by signing w2 Ben from.

As simple as that.

W2 seems the route for most of the companies
