Tips from people who’ve been there:
- True Platform is unified — Studio, TestOps, and TestCloud all talk to each other. Set up your TestOps project first, then connect Studio to it. Saves headaches later.
- Use record-and-playback to learn how tests are structured, then move to the Script view to see what’s happening under the hood.
- Get comfortable with the Object Repository and Test Cases early — they’re the backbone of maintainable tests.
- When something breaks, check the Console log / TestOps execution report first; the error message almost always tells you what’s wrong.
- Run on TestCloud when you’re ready to scale across browsers/OS without managing infrastructure.

Our IT Director thought she could get all the Business Analysts to assist in the creation of Test Cases (we tried Katalon and another software that was even simpler to use). It did NOT go very well. One of the areas that you (and our BA’s) will have to work on is getting pathways to your browser objects (textboxes, checkboxes, radio options, sliders, etc.), either by CSS or XPath. Even the “simpler” software occasionally needed a helping hand to fix the pathways in the Strategy Editor. If you know how to get the pathways to your objects, you leap to the head of the group.
