In this use case, Slowey addresses a common End-to-End testing challenge: validating hyperlinks inside Microsoft Word documents without relying on unstable UI automation.

Problem:
Automating the native MS Word UI is resource-intensive, OS-dependent, and prone to flaky results, especially when verifying document-generated content.

Solution:
Using Apache POI and a Custom Keyword in Katalon Studio, Slowey demonstrates a cross-platform approach to:

  • Capture a URL from the Web AUT
  • Generate a Word document programmatically
  • Extract and validate the hyperlink directly from the file

This backend-driven method eliminates UI dependency, improves reliability, and ensures consistent execution across Windows, Linux, and macOS.
