my win 10 (six years old) laptop went dead
only what i can see in a screen is
“preparing automatic repair”
and after few seconds only seen black screen
is the hard disk dead or some other issue?
As long as you get something like that, is not the HDD (entirely). Otherwise won’t boot at all.
Mostly your windows installation got corrupted, so you still have a chance to grab the hdd from you machine and mount it in another one to rescue some needed data.
Or try to boot your machine with an linux rescue disc
After that, you can attempt an ‘factory reset’ but take note, such procedure will wipe all of your data. So try the previous first.
