Simply opening a file will change its timestamp?

Title says it: if I open a source from the project tree, just to look or copy something that I need, Katalon will change the timestamp of the file: it should NOT.
Open files’ timestamp should be only updated when the file is written back… with a change, not when just looking.
Since we use git as a global team, this has been some annoyance as people sometimes will commit files that they should not. Granted, we have review process but everyone can approve change sets but still, since we are constantly pulling stuff, things get out of control if some of us are not careful enough.
So… is there a way to “do not change timestamp on file opening” ?
