As you know, the Kudos Rewards Program is our way of recognizing and rewarding helpful members on our forum. Since its launch in 2022, we’ve seen increased engagement from both longtime members and newcomers.

However, we’ve also noticed a rise of Kudos abuse - instances where users post low-effort responses or utilize other actions such as Invitation to quickly accumulate Kudos (some examples here). This underminds the fairness of the program for genuine contributors.

That’s why in 2025, we’re revamping the program to improve manageability and ensure fair participation for all. Read more below to learn more :point_down:

1.1. Special actions that award Kudos

  • The thread promoting Katalon’s survey need to specifically state that you’re eligible to receive extra Kudos for completing said survey.
  • For interview, you’d need to have proof that you’ve participated in a user interview with Katalon.

2. Kudos Expiry

Introduced in October 2024, this is a new mechanism that automatically reset your Kudos each quarter.

For example, if you currently have 100 Kudos in Q1 2025, then from April 2025 onward, your Kudos will be reset to 0.

Your Kudos will now reset in the following period:

  • Half 1: January → June
  • Half 2: July → December

3. What rewards can you exchange with your Kudos?

3.1. Notes on rewards

  • If you redeem the KRE (Katalon Runtime Engine), KSE (Katalon Studio Enterprise), or TestCloud, you are bound to each tool’s respective license policy and support policy.
  • For TestCloud: Trial Plan with 3 parallel sessions, Desktop Browser Testing session type, and unlimited testing minutes. See our documentations for more information.
  • Please allow our team up to a week so that we can work with the Product team to allocate the Katalon license(s) to your account.

4. How to exchange your Kudos

  1. Once you’ve gained enough Kudos to exchange for a reward, simply fill in the form below:
  1. After we’ve received your request to exchange Kudos, we’ll send you a confirmation message.
  2. Once you’ve received your rewards, we’ll proceed to deduct the corresponding Kudos amount from your profile.

  • Each form submission will correspond to one (1) reward only. Hence, if you’d like to exchange for multiple rewards, please submit the form multiple time (provide that you have enough Kudos).

You can still earn eGift cards when participating in our other activities i.e. giveaways, events, etc. Make sure to stay around on the forum so that you know when our next giveaway will take place.

Due to high demand, we’ve added more paid Katalon licenses for community use, making our solutions more accessible for teams and individuals of all sizes. This update means you can exchange more Kudo points for licenses like KSE, KRE, and Test Cloud (desktop), helping you gain Professional and Expert certifications and deepen your technical expertise.

Please note that you’ll not be able to exchange Kudos for eGift cards from 2025-02-16T17:00:00Z onwards.

  1. Are there any changes to the way we access the Kudos board?

No, the way you access the Kudos board will remain the same, in which you can navigate to the hamburger menu and click on Kudos board

You can also see a mini Kudo board on our homepage by scrolling down a bit …

I think resetting the kudos every quarter wont be a good idea as folks earning less than 250 kudos quarterly wont benefit in any way and their contribution would go in vain.

Person A earned let say 235 in Q1 , 240 in Q2 , 124 in Q3 and 227 in Q4. Although he/she has earned 826 kudos , but it would eventually mean 0 , that in my opinion would be unfair

This reminds of an unfair corporate policy where the variable salary was not paid to a person as that person left the organization 1 day before the quarter completion and the policy stated that eligible candidates would be able to get the amount only if they have completed the quarter.

Thanks for sharing your input. This is totally understandable. The goal of Kudo Point program is to 1/ recognize all of the efforts put in this forum to help QA practitioners, 2/ to make sure all community users are accessible to Katalon advanced features and keep upgrading their skills. The reason we changed the period reset is to timely provide offers to those in need. However, we listen to your feedback and we can look into the period once again based on our historical data and adjust to best benefit majority from our community. Your feedback is well-received!

Thanks @vu.tran . If you see my example in my previous comment and compare it with the redemption kudos table , nobody would be able to redeem their points anytime and i believe this wouldn’t benefit anyone as the minimum kudos to redeem is 250 and folks earning below it in a quarter receive nothing as their kudos points would be brought down to 0 after the quarter is complete.

Thank you for your feedback.

We’ve discussed the points that you made and have decided to loosen the Kudos expiry period from every quarter to every 6 months. Hence, the new period will be:

  • Half 1: Jan → Jun
  • Half 2: Jul → Dec

We hope this change will allow more time for our members to gain and exchange Kudos as they spend time on the forum.
