Hi everyone!
Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights, is just around the corner! As one of India’s most cherished festivals, Diwali originates from the Sanskrit word deepavali, meaning “row of lights.”
This five-day festival celebrates the victory of light over darkness and good over evil, symbolized by the lighting of clay lamps, or diyas, to dispel darkness (you’ll spot three diyas on our banner above!). Although deeply rooted in Hindu, Sikh, Jain, and Buddhist traditions, Diwali, much like Christmas, has grown to be a festival celebrated by many people worldwide.
To kick off the festivities, our Indian colleagues at Katalon have created a short video showcasing how a typical family prepares for Diwali. Enjoy!
We’d also love to see how you are getting ready for Diwali! Share a picture or video with us of your preparations, whether it’s decorations, favorite Diwali dishes, or special moments with family and friends (in India or beyond) below!

Happy Diwali everyone!!! I learned many ways to say happy Diwali from our colleagues:
Hindi: Diwali ki shubhkamnayein
Kannada: Deepavali Shubhashayagalu
Marati: Diwlicha hardik shubbhecha
Tamil: Iniya Dheepavali nalvazhthukkal
Wish you all great health and wonderful time with your friends and family

Yesterday, our company hosted a small online session where our Indian colleagues got to tell us a little bit more about Diwali, the origin of the festival, and how people usually celebrate it i.e. decoration, what kind of food are available during the festival period, etc.
Below is a few seconds at the end of the sessions where we all got a chance to try out the new Diwali background & effect on Google Meet!

Sharing a picture from my balcony last year which was my last Diwali as an unmarried lady in my home. This year I have my first Diwali as a married woman with my husbands family, so I miss my home and parents a lot.
