Food and drinks ... and everything in between 😋

I love that stuff. Not sure how authentic it is…

Looks similar but tastes very different. Did you have Daddies brown sauce? It’s like that but tastes a little sweeter.

When you were in Bath, did you manage to visit Cheddar? That’s where REAL cheddar cheese comes from.

The Americans also have a thing called “cookie dough”, supposedly an unbaked version cookies/biscuit without the eggs to make it safer to eat. Have you had that yet?

No and I’m not likely to, either. That’s “girl food”.

I think this one calls for a discussion on our food thread, lemme just move your post, and mine over.

I mean, food is food, whether how “feminine” they can be I guess?

What dishes would you consider as “girls’ food”, and which one are “boys’ food”?

As long as it taste good, I could not care less about its origin

Thanks God I was on Sainsbury’s website browsing through their sauces before reading your comment, or else I would have thought of something else :eyes:

Unfortunately, no, I did manage to visit Bristol though.

I watched the video below and it was cool to see how Cheddar cheese is made. All the cheese in my country are mostly imported, so they are on a pricey side :smiling_face_with_tear:

I meant, that’s the kind of food that girls most typically are attracted to – like pasta dishes. Man food is typically meatier, preferably cooked by or on fire.

I like pasta also :smiling_face_with_tear:

Okay, but when it comes to meat, how do you think about those lab-grown meat like the Impossible Burger? From the YouTube videos I have seen, it seems like they are exactly like real beef patties, right down to the textures and taste :exploding_head:

Never tried them but I have no issue with them. That’s future of food, I believe. And insects – no different than eating shrimp, crab and many shellfish-type things.

I have heard that crickets actually taste … good when fried? But somehow the “yuck” factor is still there.

But then again, shrimps and crabs could be considered the “insects of the ocean” and we still consume them like nobody’s business. :man_shrugging:

I think I may be more open to eat insects they are deep fried and then smashed into tiny bits → put onto salads to replace bread or something like that

You should take a trip to China.
If it moves, it’s edible:

The Chinese variant. Not for hotpot.
You just seat outside on the street, with a grill for you, and cook whatever you like from the fridge:

I take back what I said lol, ain’t no way I am going to eat them… unless maybe if I am blindfolded and told that I am eating a fried & crunchy … banana?

So, seems like a common theme with “gendered food” is that guys’ food is typically meatier, are grilled/cooked by fired, and accompanies with a bottle of beer  Guess that would put me in the middle then, since I do enjoy meaty food, but I can’t hold my liquor that well

Time to train your stomach, and your b*tthole, then  :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I am still unsure if my brother in law likes me. The name of the product say it all…

Maybe it’s a test to gain his approval

Either way, I just saw “Carolina Reaper” being listed as one of the ingredients, all the best

Carolina is just for flavour, i suppose.

ofcourse not, that was just me amplifying a bit a missconception.

what is girl food? what is a man food?

well, here we have to take a deep dive in the history and various cultures.

the most common paradox i know is, over the time, womans were seen as good only for maintaining the house, therefore taking care of childrens and make food, so, when the man of the house came home, dont bother him.

(ofcourse, he came from hunting, eventually if brings nothing for family, will pretend it was too small and he cooked for himself to survive)

So yeah, the modern trend is, best chefs are… yeah, you guessed, man!

So, i suppose, it is yet another cultural thing but more related to… society.

when you are alone, you are the best chef (because mostly you eat food made by your mother but you prettend was mad by you and nobody care your mother has to be verry innovative to make eadible food from junk)

once you get married, lot of habbits change and the competition may start… again… and again…

So, summarizing the above, if we use the cooking tehnique criteria, I suppose ‘man food’ are usually dishes one can cook ‘in the wild’, wich implies cooking by fire, since man usually hunt, chop wood etc.
In this category we may find grilling, roasting, cooking using a cauldron, cast iron skillet and so on.
(minimal use of appliances and ingredients, carying a stove and a truck of veggies or spice with you in the forest does not count)

About the beer… well, i never said you should use it in the dish, but is a must have!

Anything else, usually cooked in the kitchen may be seen as ‘girl food’.
(eventually cooked with wine)

If we try to classify by what a person usually order, everything became more complicated, e.g try to tell to an Italian guy pasta is ‘girl food’
