# Do I need the Katalon RunEngine to execute tests without the Enterprise Version ?

Hello,

since beginning of the year we have the Enterprise Version of Katalon and were building our test automation. Now we want to run the tests within our pipeline and noticed that we probably need the Katalon Run Engine for this. Is this mandatory or are there other ways to automate the test execution ?

yes . KRE license is mandatory if you want to run your tests n CICD pipeline
