It is because you are using chrome 132 (dev) that is not compatible with the webdriver used , use a stable version of chrome (try 129 or 130 ) and it should work fine @mateusz.mysliwiec also update the webdriver in katalon and then check ---

Just to add this only happens on test cases that are trying to switch to a newly opened tab… The rest of the suite runs fine ---

You can either add a delay or explicitly switch to new tab (latest opened new tab) ---

Hi Monty, Thanks for the quick response This is the section of the test script I’ve added a delay but then updated it to this: // Add delay or wait for window count to ensure new tab is ready WebUI.delay(2 // Short delay to allow new tab initiation ) // Wait until there are two tabs/windows int maxRetries = 5 int retryCount = 0 while ((WebUI.getWindowIndex() \< 2) && (retryCount \< maxRetries)) { WebUI.delay(2 // Delay to allow new tab to fully open ) ``` retryCount++ ``` } // Switch to the new window (tab) at index 1 WebUI.switchToWindowIndex(1) I should add this is only happening when I run the test case on our virtual machine… it’s through azure devops and executes on the runtime licence. Running it locally with the same chrome version and driver versions it’s totally fine… Which makes it even more confusing. Thanks again for your responses they are much appreciated ---

What works on local (although ur code is correct) may not work on ADO , so you have to ensure that it works in both the places Did my above reply solve ur issue? ---

@christian one detail in your log is worth more than the retries: `userDataDir: C:\Windows\SERVIC~1\NETWOR~...`. that is the profile folder of the network service account, which means the azure devops agent runs as a windows service in session 0, with no interactive desktop. chrome tolerates that for a single tab, but opening a new window from a service session is where the renderer process gets killed or never attaches, and chromedriver reports it as “disconnected: unable to receive message from renderer” while it checks whether the window was closed. locally you run in a real desktop session so it never happens, and no amount of delay fixes it. two options that have worked for me on self hosted agents: - run the agent as an interactive process (or under a normal user account with auto logon) instead of the network service. the userDataDir in the log will then be under C:\Users\... and the new tab case passes. - or run that suite headless on the vm, `--headless=new` in chrome args. headless chrome does not need a desktop session, popups open as new targets without a window, and switchToWindowIndex works the same way. if you want to confirm before changing anything, run `whoami` and `query session` from an agent job, you will see the service account and no console session.
