Hi all,
We’re thrilled to announce the first award category of the Katalon Community Award 2024: The Passionate Contributor Award!
This award is given to the most active member on the forum who not only went out of their way to offer their support to newly-created forum threads, but also to follow up with unanswered questions and provide helpful workarounds to other members.
And, we believe none is more deserving of this award than Dineshh (@dineshh) as they have spent 337 days on our forum, read 1,373 topics and 5,653 posts, made 429 replies, gave 2,032 and received 165 likes overall.
We got a chance to reach out to Dineshh and have him share his thoughts on receiving the award and his reflection on being a Katalon Community member
1. Can you tell us a bit about yourself? For example, your name, what do you do, where are you from, and is there an interesting fact you’d like to share?
Hi, I’m Dineshh from Bengaluru, also known as the Silicon Valley of India. I work as a QA Manager at a leading Fortune 500 company. One of the most fascinating aspects of my role is integrating cutting-edge technologies like automation and artificial intelligence (AI) into the quality assurance process. These advancements not only enhance efficiency and reduce human error but also enable me to focus on more strategic aspects of quality management.
2. How did you first discover Katalon? What stands out to you the most about it?
I first came across Katalon Studio while exploring comprehensive automation testing tools to meet the varied needs of my company. Our team required a solution that could seamlessly support web, API, mobile, and desktop application testing. Katalon Studio stood out with its all-in-one capabilities and an intuitive, user-friendly interface, making it the ideal choice for our testing requirements.
3. In what ways has the Katalon Community forum contributed to your work or career growth?
The Katalon Community forum has been an invaluable resource for my professional development. It has provided a wealth of knowledge, practical support, and opportunities to grow my skills.
Not only have I been able to resolve my own technical challenges thanks to the suggestions & workarounds suggested by other members (and learn from them in the process), but the welcoming nature of the Katalon Community forum also enabled me to actively contribute my own solutions and engage with the wider community of Katalon users.
4. You’re always among the first to help others on the forum. What inspires you to offer your support so consistently?
What inspires me to consistently support others on the Katalon Community forum is a combination of factors: the opportunity for personal growth, the sense of community spirit, the recognition for contributing, and the chance to give back while helping improve Katalon’s solutions. These elements together keep me motivated to engage and assist others actively.”
5. Having responded to many questions on the forum, what tips would you give other members—especially newcomers—so their queries receive the best support?
Having been on the forum for quite a while now, below are some of the tips that I suggest other members (especially newcomers) follow to ensure that they can get the best support.
-
Be Clear and Concise: Structure your question so it’s easy to understand. Provide enough detail without overloading it with unnecessary information.
-
Include Relevant Code and Logs: Sharing code snippets, error messages, or logs directly related to your issue helps others quickly identify the problem.
-
Use Appropriate Categories and Tags: Properly categorizing your topic and using relevant tags makes it easier for the right people to find and respond.
For the three points above, I highly suggest you to check out Russ Thomas’s guide on how to detail your topic effectively:
- Be Patient and Respectful: Remember that forum members are often volunteers or busy professionals. Allow time for responses and engage respectfully with those who help.
6. How do you make time for Katalon Community forum, given that we all have our own lives and jobs outside of it?
Below are some of the steps I take to balance my time for the Katalon Community forum with work and my personal life:
-
Set Clear Boundaries and Priorities: I set out specific time blocks for engaging with the community and make sure that it doesn’t interfere with my other responsibilities.
-
Integrate Community Involvement into Your Routine: Participating in the forum becomes easier when it’s part of my daily or weekly routine, whether it’s during a lunch break or after work hours.
-
Align Community Involvement with Personal and Professional Goals: When I’m participating on the forum, I’m not only sharing my own knowledge, but also learning from other members as well, which enable me to stay up-to-date on testing practices and industry trends.
Thank you Dineshh for your invaluable contribution to our forum. We hope you’ll continue to be such a valuable member of our community in the future!
