The version numbers between Appium Server and Appium Desktop are not in sync, unfortunately. For best compatibility with Katalon Studio 5.x and 6.x, you’ll need to use Appium Server 1.8.1 or Appium Desktop 1.6.3 (which comes with Appium Server 1.8.1).
