🔍 AI Search — how I find “the good stuff” (and how you can, too)

Hi everyone, Elly here :waving_hand:

Have you ever been curious about what my day as a moderator looks like?

As a moderator, my morning ritual is simple: tea, then a hunt for patterns. “Has anyone hit this exact error? What actually fixed it in KRE on GitLab?” Old me had to guess keywords and skim piles of loosely-related results. New me flips on AI Search—and lands the right threads in seconds.

What it is

AI Search adds meaning-based search to the Forum. Instead of only matching exact words, it understands intent and surfaces semantically similar topics and accepted solutions.

How it helps your testing (and my moderating)

  • Find solutions faster: It matches what you mean, not just what you typed—great for vague errors or many ways to say the same thing.

  • Less noise, more signal: AI results blend with classic search so relevance improves without losing precision.

  • Cleaner forum: Easier to locate canonical fixes → fewer duplicates and clearer “Accepted Solution” paths for everyone.

Known limitations

Since AI Search only works with posts filtered by “Relevance,” the search results may include topics from a long time ago.

Give it a spin—and tell us what you think so we can keep tuning it for how you actually search and solve.
