Katalon studio 5.6 recording and object spy are not working for many objects which work on 5.5. I’m using Chrome on MacOS

The Katalon Team has released hotfixes addressing Record Web Utility issue in v5.6.1. The download links are included below. Please give it a try and let us know if it works!

One more thing, anyone who experienced this issue, please help to send object spy and recorder prefs file to info@katalon.com. This will help the development team further investigate the issue. Below is the location of the file:

Hi Team,
The iPhone real device is not being recognized as well on Katalon version : 5.6.0
I tried with 5.6.1, but still the list shows only simulators.
I have followed every step and after running ’xcodebuild -project WebDriverAgent.xcodeproj -scheme WebDriverAgentRunner -destination ``'id=<udid>' `test, command, I do not get the line ‘Listening on USB’ everything else is displayed as mentioned in the document.
Please have look into this.

I’m testing out Katalon to use this for a set of projects we’re working on. However, recording using version 5.6.0 and 5.6.1 on Mac is not working (tried Chrome & Firefox)
Sometimes the red boxes just don’t show up, and when they do there are a number of steps missing from the recording - specifically clicking doesn’t seem to be saved in alot of cases. It seems on this thread a few people say 5.5 works - is there a link to download version 5.5 for me to test this out.
Any help would be much appreciated. Tool looks great, just need to figure out why this is happening.

Yes, unfortunately it still does. I’ve had a play with 5.5 and 5.6 now as I was testing out all the requirements I have and noticed the following:
5.5
- Recording works great
- API tests (not all) get the error Stack trace: javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: Received fatal alert: handshake_failure
5.6
- API works
- Recording doesn’t a lot of the time (a) it doesn’t turn on the red selector boxes if I don’t select the browser window frame (I generally just click wtihin the browser, not on the browser bar) and (b) alot of the steps are missing.
I’ve resorted to keeping both versions installed on my mac, and use each one as necessary for now to get through what I need. I’ll get you the logs now
I just checked and can’t find logs in that location
/Applications/Katalon Studio 5.6.0.app/Contents/MacOS/config/.metadata/.plugins/org.eclipse.ui.workbench
There is just a file called workingsets.xml and no log file.

- Can you please try again with version 5.6.1 on Chrome and post for me Console view from Chrome’s inspector tool: https://developers.google.com/web/tools/chrome-devtools/console/
- Can you record on your current browser using Katalon Recorder directly (NOT Web Recorder)?

Please confirm that you are using 5.6, not 5.6.1 in this case? You should try with release 5.6.1 using my links above

I just installed 5.6.1 and still has the same problem - some issues were not saved in the recorder.
I did the steps a few times, so apologies if some things are not showing:
1. Screenshot of the console
2. Video recording (second time I tested it out to record it) - tried uploading it - didn’t work, so shared it on google drive - Google Drive: Sign-in - let me know once you’ve downloaded it so I can delete it.
3. A log file (which should have two tests recorded in - I found the log file under /Applications/Katalon Studio 5.6.1.app/Contents/MacOS/config/.metadata

First of all, we are very sorry for the current inconveniences we’ve caused related to Web Recorder. We are trying to investigate the real root causes from your side and have applied some potential fixes for it. However looks like it turns out that the real issue is not fixed completely.
So we’ve built another version called 5.6.2 to display more logs, can you please try again on New mode using Chrome and send us Katalon Studio logs again in case you’ve observed the same issue?
