Safari - error reported if webdriver extension not loaded

I was under the impression that Safari natively provides the required webdriver, yet if I don’t have the webdriver extension loaded, Katalon studio complains, and presents the ‘install webdriver’ dialog.

Can someone provide some information on whether the webdriver is required or not?

Safari WebDriver extension is required, so you need to install it.
