How to clear() input fields in web?

WebUI.clearText() doesn’t work in MacOSX for webelement : //input[@type = ‘number’ and @name = ‘length’]

Have tried Command+A using Keys.chord and it doesn’t work either.
Surprisingly,everything works in Windows.
