After recording a test case of a web page, I’m going to save the steps of the case generated by the tool, the app throws the message “Cannot generate test steps.”
I tried to save the project in different location but it didn’t solve this issue

Could you specify the detail steps to reproduce the issue? I received the same error message when I click on the Cancel button instead of OK button on the Record Web dialog. I am not sure if it is the case you have.

I’m working with a local server URL. I tested with Firefox and Chrome for recoding but I got the same error. I attempted to do a login like in the Katalon tutorial, but I got the error when I click the OK button in Add element to Object Repository dialog.
In the log of Katalon 5.0 I got the following message: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-f2I3X83GeOcExjQTJlWHFWVTA and Katalon showed an empty error dialog.
In Katalon 4.8 I got the error dialog with the message “Cannot generate test steps”

So this happens in both 5.0 and 4.8 , right? Can you show me the screenshot of your recorder screen at the time you observe this issue?

Hi there,
I see the reason now. The main root cause from your case is there is a restricted character (.) in your Page name, and that character is not allowed when saving in Windows. We will add a ticket to fix it, so your workaround solution is you need to manually remove these . characters before saving your recorded actions

Hi I got an Almost similar issue after i recorded my test using chrome browser, I first did not create a folder under my “object Repository” then I created a folder but still there are no test steps: and I do not get any message to indicate where did I go wrong, please see screen short attached

I’ve observed that you’ve created a test case successfully, so therefore there is no error message generated. Can you open generated test case to see if there are any recorded steps generated?
Please let me know the results after you’ve looked at it.

Based on your provided log, here is the root cause of its:
org.eclipse.e4.core.di.InjectionException: java.lang.IllegalStateException: Application does not have an active window
Are you using two monitors in this case? Can you help to elaborate more about your environment and what’ve you done from your side?

I’m facing a similar error on my recorded steps. here is the error message and attached log. Katalon studio version: 5.10.1

I’m receiving the same error message when I try to run Record Web and select yes when asked “Do you want to continue recording test Case:’ xxxxx’?”.

I’m also getting the same error message. It pops up when I try to run Record Web (this only happens with a few scripts). I have a multiple monitor setup, two external monitors that are connected to a dock for a laptop that I also use as a monitor.
